Shop Leadman
Position available at the following locations:

Description
Direct, lead and supervise hourly team members in production of railcar repair
Responsibilities
-
Schedule work on cars to meet customer commitments
-
Monitors and manages shop efficiency
-
Performs in-process inspection on all work performed prior to cars leaving the department
-
Holds daily departmental safety, quality, and production meetings
-
Manage, mentor, coach and train team members
-
Participates in root-cause investigations and corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence
Education and Experience
-
3 years of railcar inspection, test, and repair experience preferred
-
1 year supervisory/management experience preferred
-
Knowledge of the Federal Railroad Administration’s regulations governing the inspection and test of railcars, and the Association of American Railroads Interchange Rules preferred
-
Ability to read prints and drawings, including weld and nondestructive testing symbols
Physical Requirements
-
Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
-
Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials
-
May work in confined spaces and at heights exceeding 4 ft. off the ground with proper PPE and fall protection
-
Close mental and visual attention required, coordinating manual dexterity with mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time
Working Schedule and Conditions
-
Covered roof area - temperature may not be climate controlled
-
Work outdoors
-
Primary work environment subject to extreme heat or cold for considerable amounts of time. Must dress accordingly
-
Hearing protection shall be required in certain designated areas and during the performance of specific designated jobs due to noise levels greater than 80 decibels
-
Intermittent exposure to vibration when using impact tools
-
Scaffolds, floors, ladders and walking surfaces may be uneven
